The Heart Behind the Stitches

A Legacy of Love, One Stitch at a Time

My love for crochet began when I was just eleven years old, although I can’t say it started quite the way you might imagine.

You see, my grandmother wasn’t exactly the most patient woman when it came to my endless energy and chatter. As a child with ADHD, sitting still and being quiet weren’t exactly my strong suits. She would often tell me, “My ears are tired!”

So, in what I imagine was a desperate attempt to find herself a little peace and quiet, she put a crochet hook and some yarn in my hands.

Little did either of us know that her clever solution to keeping me occupied would become one of the greatest gifts she ever gave me.

What started as a way to quiet a busy little girl became something that would carry me through some of life’s hardest moments.

I eventually lost my grandmother to Alzheimer’s and dementia. But even though that terrible disease took so much, it could never take away what she taught me.

Today, when I miss her the most, I pick up my crochet hook. Somewhere between the yarn slipping through my fingers and the familiar rhythm of each stitch, I find myself feeling close to her again.

Sometimes I smile, remembering her saying, “My ears are tired!”

And sometimes, I simply sit with the memories.

What began as my grandmother’s search for a little peace became the very thing that helps me find my own.

Be Still, and Know That I Am God

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

It’s funny how the Lord works in our lives.

All those years ago, my grandmother was simply trying to teach me to sit still. I never imagined that one day, those quiet moments would become some of my most treasured times with God.

Crocheting gives me an opportunity to slow down, quiet my thoughts, and spend time in His presence.

With each stitch, I am reminded that I don’t have to have everything figured out. I don’t have to carry every worry or solve every problem. Sometimes, I simply need to be still, trust in His plan, and remember that He is God.

My faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of my life. Through seasons of joy, heartache, loss, and uncertainty, His love and grace have remained constant—even when I wasn’t at my best, even when my faith was at its lowest, and even when I struggled to find my way.

Through it all, He never stopped loving me. His grace never wavered, even when I did.

And that is one of the most beautiful things about His love. It isn’t dependent on us having everything together or always getting things right. His love meets us right where we are, in our strongest moments and in our weakest ones.

Losing my grandmother taught me how deeply we can miss someone we love. But my faith reminds me that even in our sorrow, we are never alone.

There are days when I crochet with a heart full of gratitude, days when I find myself talking to the Lord, and days when the simple rhythm of my hook and yarn brings a peace that words cannot explain.

What my grandmother began, God has continued to use in my life in ways I never could have imagined.

And isn’t that just like Him? Taking something so simple and turning it into something meaningful.

Stitched Together by Faith, Wrapped in Grace

The name The Cozy Stitchery represents more than my love for crochet.

It represents the memories that shaped me, the creativity God has blessed me with, and the faith that carries me through each day.

Every handmade piece begins with a single stitch. Some projects come together beautifully, while others require patience, a little unraveling, and the willingness to begin again.

Life is much the same.

There are times when everything seems to fall into place and times when we find ourselves wondering how all the pieces will ever fit together.

But I believe the Lord is always working, even when we cannot see the finished picture.

Just as each stitch has its place in a handmade creation, every season of our lives has a purpose in God’s hands.

We may not always understand His timing or His plans, but we can trust the One who holds the pattern.

And through it all, His grace is enough.

Welcome to My Little Corner of the World

I created The Cozy Stitchery to share my love of crochet, my handmade creations, and, most importantly, my love for the Lord.

My hope is that this little corner of the internet becomes a place where creativity and faith come together.

A place to share ideas, learn something new, find encouragement, and celebrate the simple blessings God places in our lives.

You don’t have to share my faith to feel welcome here. Whether you came looking for crochet inspiration, a handmade treasure, or simply a quiet moment away from the busyness of life, I’m glad you’re here.

My grandmother gave me the gift of crochet.

Jesus Christ gives me the peace, strength, and grace to carry that gift through every season of my life.

And now, I have the joy of sharing both with you.

Welcome to The Cozy Stitchery.
